Evaluation of Several Commercial Diamond Burs Using International Standards

Abstract
|
|
|
Eight kinds of dental diamond burs currently sued in dental clinics were tested in dimension and eccentricity according to International Standards, SEM evaluation and cutting efficiency.
@ES Followings were obtained:
@EN 1. C204, 341 and 6837.012(L) were acceptable in dimension specified by ISO.
2. Burs of same particle type showed no significant difference in cutting efficiency(p<0.05).
3. C204, 341, C352, 515.7F and 837.012 were acceptable in run-out test specified by ISO.
4. SEM finding was that the used burs had the area where the particles were ground away and debris other than the un-used burs.
As mentioned above, some of commercial dental diamond burs do not suffice the ISO in dimension and eccentricity, burs of same particle type showed no significant difference in cutting efficiency, and the used burs have difference in surface
condition
from the unused burs.
